And NOW the (I'm sure) much anticipated LAMBY DANCE!
(this is a moving picture) Movie comes from the words moving picture! I just realized that! WOW.

Calla's Sixty-Ninth Post
I saw a book today that, um, BOTHERS ME, to say the least. It is part of this growing trend in idiocy in the vein of Michael Pollan. It by some woman who's last name is ironically Friend, and it is called The Compassionate Carnivore. I didn't read the book, only the jacket. And what I found there alone disturbs me deeply. It is another one of those eat local "sustainable" meat and the world will be a happier place. It talked about how the author raises and kills lambys or sheep or something. . . And about the surprising gratitude she felt when she ate an animal she raised and LOVED. Someone needs to explain this to me in terms I can understand. I have problems with people killing sentient beings whom they supposedly LOVE. I can't kill BUGS (I trap them, walk into the hallway, and let them out the window), let alone an animal I love. Imagine killing a pet. Just imagine slitting a beloved pets neck. If you are capable of this, I don't think you understand the definition of love. You should be willing to die for things you love, not willing to kill them. There is something twisted in the psyche of anyone who goes "oh, I love to kill things I love and eat them even though it is entirely unnecessary for my health and actually destructive for the environment!" So, that's my first beef. (haha, no pun intended.) I could NEVER kill one of my cats. Not if my life depended on it. If my life depended on it, I would die instead. How can you take the life of a thinking, feeling, breathing, trusting, loving animal, whom you love!?
Second problem with this whole movement. UNSUSTAINABLE AND IMPOSSIBLE. No matter what way you slice it, eating meat is not a sustainable process. One can argue that eating grass fed animals does not take the same grains away from people. . . But I don't get it. If the amount of animals people eat every year were all grass-fed, WE WOULD HAVE NO TREES LEFT. How are you gonna clear that much brush for that amount of animals?! Explain to me how you're gonna do that? WHICH MEANS, that it is impossible for EVERYONE to eat local, grass-fed animals. It just is. So, for whom is this diet designed? Not the general population. Additionally, even people who may want to eat locally and may be able to afford it are not necessarily going to have access to such dead animals. The argument doesn't make any sense when the general population of the United States is considered. The suggestion works for a small minority, and it is, dare I say, elitist?
Furthermore, I feel like these arguments don't work for meat-eaters. I feel like people are more likely to use them as an excuse for continuing the status quo, or there is the "slippery slope" idea, where people will switch to local death and then be all "oh, well, I can go out to eat at this restaurant this one time for my friend's birthday," and that one time turns into once a week, which turns into a habitual event. It is unrealistic to expect people to eat only local meat and not expect them to want to eat out every once in a while. I know of only two restaurant that serve local meat. That means you asking these people only to eat meat that they cook themselves, and I think that is an unrealistic expectation knowing the general weak-will of humanity.
So, what I think these books are more likely to turn vegans and vegetarians into people who eat local animals than to turn omnivores into people who only eat local death. Do you agree? Am I right?
But seriously, that love part is what gets me more than anything. I am greatly disturbed by this definition of love.
Besides the point. Calla Wright. I have to write my name. If people are going to search for me in creepy websites like 123people this blog better come up! As of now it doesn't. So I put my name it. . . for any creepy people who want to find me, now they can. haha. Weird right?
I made up a lamby dance! But Tabby needs to record it before it can go on here. So, I can't put it on here yet. BUT, the lambys do a lamby dance, the lambys do a lamby dance, the lambys do a lamby dance, they dance! 'Cause they're so happy that nobody eats them, yes they're so happy nobody eats them. And they're so happy no one abuses them, yes they're so happy no one abuses them! The lambys made up their dance. . . um. . . I think. . . not yesterday. . . but the day before. . . And I didn't see that stupidface book until today. So it made me even more upset when I saw that book, 'cause those lambys in the book don't get to do a dance! People eat them. :( And people they TRUST, the way my kitties trust me, TAKE THEIR LIVES. EWWWW.
Love,
Calla and her kitties

HAPPY EASTER
So, today it is Easter. I did not go to Church today because I went for 2 1/2 hours last night for the Great Easter Vigil and it was so exciting when everyone rang bells when Jesus rose! It was like a big party. I danced in my pew. I was also there for over two hours on Good Friday and Maundy Thursday. So all and all I was there like 7 hours for Easter Church. I didn't want to have to deal with an overcrowded church of people who only go to church on Holidays. It seemed unnecessary. So, here are some pictures about Easter.

I made Easter cookies on Maundy Thursday after Church. I made A LOT. Like 30 or something.

They are all trapped inside!?

:( [this picture is sideways. tilt your head]

This is what I got Tabby. It is two cookies. One like a bunny and one like an egg and they are both pink. A crispy cat mint coconut candy bar. It is vegan but still thick like how one thinks candy bars should be (like snickers, twix, three muskateers, etc.) The company makes two other flavors. A Luna Bar that is peppermint. A little baby dark chocolate bunny. And eggs filled with vegan gummy bears and vegan hard candies that are pomegranate flavored. And ALSO A STUFFED LAMBY. You should buy your stuffed animals from this company called stuffington because it is still in the United States. But it is in Phoenix. So, it might be filled with non-union undocumented workers who are still abused. . .

This is Tabby with Resurrection. (That is the lamby's name.)

This is what Tabby got me. That is a lamby named Lamb of God.

In the basket are lots and lots of dark chocolate eggs and ONE GIANT dark chocolate egg. He told me they are fair trade. Then there is a cookie shaped like a butterfly and a cookie shaped like a turtle. "AN EASTER TURTLE!?" I said. And there is mini brownies. And super cute salt and pepper shakers who love each other. This man on Union Square sells them and I always want them cause I'm obsessed with cute kitchen stuff. See, they are hugging.

It turned out the lambys are sisters! They were very happy to be reunited because they are sad they were pulled away from their mommy at such a young age.

MAMA IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE LAMBS!! She is so little! AHHH SOOO CUTE.

This is Fuffers smelling flowers that ARE GROWING OUT OF A BUNNY! Tabby's mom gave them to us for Easter. She gave them to us last Sunday though. The bunny's name is Bun-Bun No Nose because she has no nose! The flowers are named Yellow Flowers.

Calla's Sixty-Eighth Post
These are the Exquisite Corpse poems Tabby and I made. We did every other word w/o knowing what the other person wrote. Also, I am eating an Easter cookie. I made them yesterday and now I am fat because I ate like 7 today. They are really super good and really super fattening because they are butter cookies (fake butter) with frosting on them. . . and the primary ingredient in the frosting is crisco. So, now I am fat. And it is weird cause I made them shaped like animals and I always think everything that has a face is alive (even though in my head I know this is not true) but I still enjoy eating the cookies. I will put pictures of them up soon.
So here are the poems.
They do not have names.
And also, they get better as they go.
Buttocks happily melt a short tube.
Noses blankly jump blistered fig blossoms.
The frame absolutely trembled gruesome wild flowers.
Peanut butter tentically tickles lily like belt buckles.
(That one is not so good, we were just getting the hang of it. . these next ones are better)
A speckeled stomach postively censed a crunchy tumolt and bones.
Cunning rings sleepily bewilder the drenched squirrels and the lover.
The streaked chauffeur necissarily licks a broken Calla and stilts.
A farcical ribbon frankly scratches a vigourous glass and command.
(They still get better.)
The cute apples ran.
A silver sodomy clearly resorted to an orange pluto and euchatist.
A final tongue asks;
the slippery offense passionately brought around long lips and body.
The blessed forest hopes;
broad life prayfully gives anachronistic Mondays and substantives.
The whimsical cathedral waits.
Interlaced scabs meanly color a monochrome freedom and jewel.
A perfumed Autumn studies
piercing chimes lawlessly corresponding to the fierce whip of a nightmare and undersides.
An origami example sleeps.
Purple fear subserviently escapes the blatent hands of the analyses and souls.
(This next one got bad again because Tabby messed it up. He did the wrong words for half the lines and then had to make up new ones on the spot to fit his parts of speech.)
The painted blind constructs saw into half chasms.
The darkest of choices prophecies freckles into the sun.
The dark, trembling river forgets the premoridal dark bloom.
The least likley of oracles purges bread between text.
(The first line of that is actually good. . . That is the one Tabby did NOT screwed up.)
(This is the last one.)
Yellowing pillowed fingers blown above the slim clouds.
The most alive of secrets climaxes words onto crates.
A white delerious locamotive spoke from mythical skin.
The weakest of berries througs the Lord through summer.
I am not spell checking.
Here is your inanimate objects I think is alive.

This is from not this past Easter but the one before that. . .so TWO Easters ago. Tabby and I always get each other Easter Baskets. That green bunny is named Mint Car. I ate that maple syrup bunny which was maybe a little bit mean. Last Easter Tabby got me a chocolate bunny and I ate that too. It was dark chocolate cause I don't abuse cows.

Calla's Sixty-Second Post
Do you know what H2O is? No, I am not talking about water. I am talking about this Australian TV show I saw the other day (being yesterday) that is so funny, I laughed like a ghost band! OK, the show itself isn't funny. The concept is hilarious, and thus the theme song is funny like a ghost band. SO, these three teenagers turn into mermaids anytime they get wet! HAHAHAHAHAHA. I don't GET IT. I don't get it AT ALL!!!! They are already made of 70% water, and what? they don't sweat or cry or even BREATHE on themselves. NO SENSE. It is so funny. This is what wikipedia said, and we all know wikipedia has quite a way with words (trying to be all serious about non-serious subjects so that I just crack the frak up!) Ok, this is what it said, "The show's premise revolves around three teenage girls facing everyday teen problems with an added twist: they're mermaids with powers over water." HAHAHAHA. Can you believe that? Oh, too great for words! Really, too too great.
The bad news, the show is filmed at SEA WORLD! EWWWW. Now, here's the thing with sea world. . . I've been an animal lover my whole entire life. So, when I was little I loved to go to the zoo and to Sea World (the one that used to be in Cleveland, which was right near where I used to live.) This is because I did not realize how evil Sea World is. They train animals, we all know that entails beatings and starvation. The animals live in areas too small to engage in their natural, God-given behaviors (ie: use sonar in the case of dolphins). They live in CHLORINE, which is horrendous for their health. Well, also, I'm not sure the Australian Sea World is connected to the U.S. chain, but nonetheless, it is a marine park with abused animals. This is sad to me. It hurts my heart a bit (as all animal abuse does.) I'm kind of a bad person, in that, I feel pretty vindicated (I don't know if that's the right word. I don't think it makes sense. I guess I feel vindication on the animal's behalf. ? .) any time a trainer of a wild animal (ie: someone who abuses God's creation at a circus or a marine park) gets attacked, mauled, or even killed. I'm not kidding. I'm a bad person. I think, "well, you shouldn't've been fucking around with wild animals asshole!" Firstly, it was just a mean thing to do. Secondly, it was just a dumb thing to do. Even house cats can rip holes in your flesh if(when) they want to. Why do you think a lion, whom you are pissing off by shoving a metal rod done his throat, won't one day snap and do the same!? And, probably, you deserved it, because you shoved a metal rod done an innocent animal's throat.
K, so that was the animal rant of the day. Today, for the animals, I wrote Trader Joe's about offering more vegan options. Probably that won't actually do anything. But I also resent the e-mail to the humane certified people because the one I sent yesterday got sent back to me because I typed the e-mail address wrong. So, that mighta been good. Perhaps I will make these people think more about these issues. And if they already consider them strongly, I will be better informed when I am recommending the products which are certified humane to other people.
So, know what else I want to mention? Short Bus. Man, I am one harsh movie critic. What is with all these so-called sex positive messages that turn out to be NOT sex positive!? Just a question. So, Short Bus was a'ight. It was not nearly as good as Hedwig (and how could it be if it wasn't a musical, right?), but it didn't completely suck upon first viewing. Some of the characters were quirky in a non-annoying way, their lives interwove in a believable fashion, all of the actors were good at acting, the ending wasn't so corny, though it was predictable, that you wanted to puke or anything horrible like that. So, it wasn't bad. It was just another hum-drum movie that I probably wouldn't watch ever again, but it didn't bother me on any level. It was only upon further contemplation that the movie got to me.
So, John Cameron Mitchel (if that's at all how you spell any of his names) started off wanting to make a sex-positive movie with real sex. That was seriously the goal. Something about how all the real sex in movies coming out of Europe represents something bad, and sex is something good. His movie, however, wasn't about sex. It was about human connection. And sex was used as a metaphor. So, he is still not positing a positive message about sex, rather he is positing a positive message about human connection. Additionally, in this world, where sex is equivalent to connection, there is no place for the asexual individual. I think I have talked about asexuality before on this blog in regards to the Kinsey Institute adding a 7 to Kinsey's 0-6 scale. (This is dumb. There should be two scales one for homo-hetero and one for a-hyper, if you are a 0 on the a-hyper one, you don't need to fit on the homo-hetero scale. However, people who are like a 1 [mostly asexual] still deserve another number.) Anyway, I think my point is about marginalizing a whole group of people who are currently misunderstood. I am not myself asexual, but I cannot STAND how people don't acknowledge that asexuality exists! In the world of Short Bus, they cannot exist, for if they did, they would have no way of connecting to other people.
Next: what is with the story of the woman not being able to cum!? This has been done so many other times. And it has been done WELL. (see: coming soon. Haha. It's brilliant) So, there is nothing inherently wrong with the story. But John Cameron Mitchel, as a gay male, does not know how to pull this one off. Additionally, to make the entire movie hinge on this one fact, which I admit is an important one in the life of the character, to the point where the FINAL moment is of her cumming, and then only show it for a split second! Like show the gasp and the "about to scream" and then cut to New York City's lights coming back on (Yeah, apparently her orgasm was so great it fixed the blackout) is just cheap. It is still as though, though this is the most important part of the film, the climax if you will (pun attended, hahaha!), you still cannot show it in all it's glory even though we've seen multiple males ejaculate. ANNOYING. Also, to equate it with the power coming back on makes it something special, as opposed to something a woman has every right to experience everyday the same way a man does.
And maybe I am reading too much into the woman cumming thing. And I think perhaps I don't even understand completely what I didn't like about it, but there was something that didn't sit right. If you are a womanist, a feminist, a sex-positive individual, a woman's rights activist, whatever, and you have seen this movie, perhaps you can share your opinion with me.
The other thing I didn't like was how it was such a male dominated cast. This is to be expected of a white, liberal, gay, male I suppose. (If you need me to explain that statement, chances are you wouldn't understand what I mean even after the explanation.) But it still bothered me. I am one of those annoying people who is always keeping score. (i.e.: whose name was shown first in the credits when the male and female lead had the exact same amount of screen time and shared equally in the role of protagonist?) I can't help it. I feel like the majority of people in this country like to assume and pretend that sexism is over, that women have equal rights, and equal treatment. This is not the case. And it is DEFINITELY not the case that women have equal representation in government jobs or high-end corporate positions. Forgive me for wanting to see them represented equally in Indy-Flicks.
Also, what is with the whole idea that this movie is not supposed to turn you on because it is not porn!? Now, it didn't really turn me on, that's most likely because I am probably only a 1 or 2 on the whole asexual to hypersexual scale that I invented. But, I can't see how it is not supposed to turn other people on. There is mad sex right in your face. And why is John Cameron Mitchel all opposed to porn in the first place!? You can't objectify all of these people's bodies for "art" and then say it's a crime against humanity that people are objectifying their bodies for the sake of sex and sex alone. (I did a whole post on this once. Go find it if you care.) If this was designed to be sex-positive, he should be happy to be showing sex for the sake of sex. (That should be a new movement, right? Sex for Sex's sake like Art for Art's sake, only we must be on a closer guard against venereal disease in this new movement I am proposing.) Am I wrong? Should he be showing sex for art's sake instead? Is that sex positive, or just art positive?
So, other than that, it WAS your run-of-the-mill Indy-Flick. Some "deep" movie with grand symbolic gestures that actually seem kind up shallow and useless when one puts on his/her analytical reasoning hat. Except it has real sex; this is how it is different. So, if you can't stomach that for one reason or another, don't see it. Otherwise, probably still don't see it 'cause you could spend that hour and a half or whatever watching actually meaningful things like Battlestar Galactica, Mad Men, My So-Called Life, or Wonderfalls. (Yes, these are all TV shows, not movies. But it stands that they are all better than most movies.)
OK.
That's all for now. I still don't have new kitty pictures, so I think I'll put up this bat picture from Halloween. See, 'cause I told you all about this bat, but I don't think I ever pasted up an image. And if I already have, forgive me for the re-run.

Love, Calla and her kitties.

Calla's Fifty-Fifth Post
I have just stumbled upon some distressing news. . . The ghost bands may not be able to make me laugh much longer. (ha! I cracked a smile just writing that line! The ghost band is the funniest thing in the world! AHHHH! John Allison is a comic genius!) Alright, but for serious, the ghost bands are not actually in the comic, and I still have the shirt. . . so no, they will make me laugh for ever and ever and ever until the shirt gets worn out. . . And then I will laugh at pictures of myself wearing the shirt!! But, to the point. John Allison may soon discontinue Scary-go-Round and start something new. http://sgrblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/state-of-onion.html In theory, I get this. If one focuses on the same project for seven years, one is bound to get burnt out. But I will cry, cry, cry when Comrade Bat and Shelly Winters are no longer in my life! Just like I am so sad that Delirium is no longer in my life. I get way too attached to these fictional people (and animal-friends). It is highly dysfunctional of me. It is the same way I think all my stuffed animals are alive.
Oh, that song from the last post is super swell, huh? In bed the night after that bad movie Tabby was all, "that was like a David Bowie song or something." And THEN, without warning, he sang "I got an empathy virus." I laughed so so hard. So hard like the ghost bands, and the Abraham Lincoln story, and the Painter with the Sombrero (see Calla's Third Post for a complete description of how amazing all those things truly are!) And I said, "sing more! Sing more!!" while I was in hysterics. And at first he would not!! He would not sing more because he said he didn't know how; so I helped. I sang, "and I can't go out in the sun." And then he finally started singing more. And oh-so-quickly I found a receipt and a red marker and began transcribing the most awesomest song in the world ever. (Besides the one where Baby Kitty tap dances. . . I don't know if that is on here though.)
Ok, so there is so much more more more to say. I have to tell you more about that fictional person I know in real live life. But I don't remember his code name. So I have to look that up first.
What I have to say is that Dollhouse was on last Friday. Now, Dollhouse was alright. (Though Tahmoh Penekitt [however one spells his name!] was not in it nearly enough.) But it wasn't believable at all. Joss Whedon set up these villains of sorts, right? Like the people in charge of the agents (or whatever they were called) convince themselves they do their work to help people, but they don't actually do that. Or so I thought was the set up. THEN they went and didn't erase Echo's (who is Faith in Buffy, who has a name when she is not acting, but I don't know what it is.) memory so that she could go save that little girl. It was such predictable story-telling. Now, had Ron Moore been telling a story like this, he would've gotten the audience invested in the situation, made us all eager for the child to get saved, and then it wouldn't've happened, because it is not believable that it happened. Overall, it was a good show. The concept is interesting, Helo is in it (and he is a better actor than everyone else around him!), the pacing was right on, there weren't cheesy U2 or Coldplay songs in the background (that I can remember at least), I was immediately invested in the story and the characters (it helped that one is Helo.), though it seemed that was a stand alone episode the ending appears that it will still be tied to the overall series. So, as far as TV goes, it was ok. But then Galactica came on immediately. . . and the OPENEING SEQUENCE, THE RECAP, was better than Dollhouse. Once Galactica is in one's life, no TV show will ever be on par again. (except maybe Mad Men. That's pretty good.) Just as when the ghost bands enter your life, there is no other T-Shirt worth wearing.
Though, I did buy the Eggbert shirt in honor of Shelley. But here is the problem. Blue is a really ugly color. So I can't really bring myself to wear it that often. Also, I didn't buy it. Tabby bought it for me for Christmas because I asked him too. I wish it was green, black, brown, white, or even purple. Blue is ugly.
Want to know what I don't understand? Why people think the U.S. constitution is sacred. The old men who wrote it weren't gods or even oracles. They don't know any better than I or you do. (That should say you or I, I suppose. . . but I am narcisistic [hence the fact that I keep this blog], so I am leaving it the way it is.) So, it is weird that if something is "unconstitutional" it is deemed evil. This is all brought up, of course, by D.C. wanting voting rights. And I think they should have them even though the constitution says STATES have representatives in congress. TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION IS TYRANNY. (Probably our founding fathers overreacted a bit, no? Come on? Tyranny? Maybe mean would be a better word.) Though, I forget who said this, but someone said we should just stop taxing residents of D.C. HAHAHAHA! I love it. Colbert enlightened me to that guy who said that. Colbert is also a comic genius.
I am not sure if this picture of myself is up on a different post or not. If it is, I'm sorry for the re-run, but I wanted to put it up.

The kitties are playing with a toy!! No, Mama is playing, and the Baby Fuffersface does not understand how! :( It makes me so so so so sad to watch him try. He can't figure out he has to stick his paws in the slots and mostly just hits the side of the contraption. Though once in a while he gets his hand in the right spot and I think perhaps he will learn! But he doesn't. He is not the brightest crayon in the box. BUT HE SURE IS THE CUTEST!!!

Love,
Calla and the FURRY GUYS!!

Calla's Fourty-Seventh Post
This is just really quick to put forward a complaint. This has been bothering me since 10th grade, which may have been the time I realized this was even a twisted concept. What is this debate between the emotional and rational minds? By even having the debate you are already assuming the superiority of rationality, because you are having the debate with your rational mind. Therefore, the conversation is impossible.
Furthermore, why is there an assumption that our rational reasoning is the "real" us and we are always working to control our thoughts or something. Well, see what brought this up was this guy on the Colbert Report a few seconds ago. He wrote some book about decision making and said we are all sitting on top of an elephant (representing emotion) and it's hard to control that elephant. Now, the metaphor implied that "we" are rational. Bullshit. I don't know how brains work, and I don't claim to know how they work (duh), but I'm pretty sure my emotions and my reason both come from my brain. So, if I am my brain (which I am not sure that I am. Is the soul in the brain? Does the soul impact our earthly beings? Or are all souls created equal and our minds create the individuality?) Anyway, for the sake of science-talk, I'm pretty sure I am my brain. My brain, I am told is the only reason I can think, feel, act, etc. So I'm pretty sure my brain is what makes me. . or something. So that would include the emotional and the rational sides. So you see, I don't get this argument.
And in 10th grade, I forget my teacher's name. She was old and looked like Ursula the seawitch in the Disney cartoon of The Little Mermaid. Well, I don't remember why. We musta read something or other because it was an English class, and she made us discuss rationality vs. emotionality or something. And in that debate I could not help but feel completely at a loss about how a debate is even possible without given creed to reasons supremacy. And it isn't. So someone needs to explain this to me because that guy, who didn't know how to take a joke or interact successfully with Colbert, just reminded me of this weirdness.
There are other things to discuss. . . but I don't remember exactly what they are. Except now I remember one. . . and then when I was typing that I remembered the other! YAY!
So one of the others is this whole scale of 0-6 the Kinsey people made. Well, the institute later added a 7 for asexuality. This is dumb and a half. If there are varying degrees of hetero/homosexuality why wouldn't it stand that there are also varying degrees of asexuality? There, I'm sure is a spectrum from 100% asexuality to hypersexuality (nymphomania). Now, I understand the good intention. If we make TWO scales, that means everyone is judged on two scales, and people who are asexual simply don't fall on the other scale. Well, I'm not a sex researcher or, for that matter, a person who knows anything about science. But, I'm not even sure that would be true. People who are not at all interested in sex may still find bodies attractive to varying degrees, so they still might fall on the other scale. If not, and I'm not sure which way it is, but if asexual people are not attracted to other people at all, then it would stand to reason that if on the asexual scale of 0 to 6 you were on the extreme of the asexual side, you would simply be exempt from the other scale. Someone needs to write the Kinsey institute a letter. Maybe I will. I would be willing to bet if a whole group of asexual people read this post some would say they aren't attracted to people and others would say they were attracted to people, but had no interest in any sexual act. So, that hypothetical would prove my case. There is definitely a scale.
The other thing is about the catnip mouse! Well, as soon as I finished that post staring our mousey friend I removed the catnip and stuffed him up with cottenballs and put him with our friends upstairs. So, then I just had loose catnip that I would give the kitties every now and again, but there was no catnip toy with which to play. TODAY I FOUND VEGETABLES. From the same company that made Pintac (that's his name) I found a pack of 3 catnip toys stuffed with organic-grown-in-the-U.S.A. catnip. Know what they are? I shall tell you. They are a carrot, a chili pepper and a miniature eggplant. (Cause a life size eggplant would not work with the other two vegetables.) So, now my kitties have vegetables! haha! It is so funny because they are carnivores. (I know, it is sad, but it is a fact of life. My kitties eat dead chickens.) So, it is funny to see the carnivores trying to eat vegetables! I love vegetables.
Mama is sitting on the couch with me because she likes the blanket I am using. . . and one would think she is so small that she shan't take up too much space. WRONG. She is intentionally cramping my legs I think. (Maybe not.)
Love, Calla and her kitties.
P.S. Guess what's happening tomorrow? Gaeta is totally going down!!

My kitties went to jail!? or something!?

Calla's Forty-Second Post
This is just really quick to say: I feel bad for the catnip mouse! All the other stuffed animals are in the bedroom on the doorway railing thingy all safe and sound. They even take part in the household conversation on occasion, and Periwinkle made an espidition around the living room entirely unscathed. The only thing all these creatures have in common is they are stuffed with fluff. (much like Edward Bear a.k.a. Winnie-the-Pooh) The poor little catnip mouse is, on the other hand, stuffed with catnip. Because of this fate, which was no fault of his own, he is subject to constant harassment by the household felines. He is batted, bitten, scratched, and flung around on a daily basis. He is even missing a black-stitch eye from all of the abuse. Now, he is cute and little like all the other stuffed animals. Yet, he is tortured! I feel so sad for him. I am thinking maybe I should remove the catnip, fill the little guy with fluff and find a ball or sack filled with catnip for the feline enjoyment. He is in my lap right now because I picked him up and felt so sorry for his condition that I was compelled to write this; and so I couldn't just put him back on the ground where he would be subject to merciless attacks. HE EVEN HAS WHISKERS HE IS SO CUTE.
I have issues.

Calla's Thirty-Sixth Post
My bat friends finally came yesterday! So, I don't know if you knew about my bat friends Luna and Nocturne. They are earrings that I got from the Ren. Fair. (Do you like that I never even attempt to spell that word?) Well, there was an unfortunate incident not all too long ago. (Christmas Eve it was) Going through airport security, I lost Luna!! I just lost her. I was so so sad that I almost cried. So, poor Nocturne was oh-so-lonely since bats are social social creatures. So, I had to find some new bat friends to order on line. I, of course, could not find twins of Luna and Nocturne, but I did find a lot of different styles of bat friend earrings. So, I ordered a pair on Christmas and the FINALLY came yesterday! I was excited! Want to know what their names are? They are Midnight and Vampyra.

My one cat is too too fat. Last time he went to the vet he weighed over 18 pounds!!! Now, you must understand he is a Maine Coon mix. This means he is BIG. So, he is not like EXTREMELY obese. But, the vet said he is supposed to weigh around 15 lbs. Well, she said to make him exercise. But he won't!! He is over 13 years old. So, he is not so playful. The vet said get a laser pointer or a "cat dancer." Well, he looks at my hand with the laser pointer and doesn't even notice the red dot. He does not like the cat dancer. He is scared of it. (The little crazy one LOVES the cat dancer.) So, basically, the point is, he is still fat.
Now, we could discuss the food situation. Between the two of them, the big kitty and the 7 lb 5 oz kitty, I feed them 1/2 can of soft food and 1/3 + 1/2 cup of hard food everyday. The hard food is the "healthy weight and aging" formula of Pet Promise. So, I don't see exactly what I can do. That is not a lot of food. It is about 75% of the recommended feeding guide on the packaging. Should I really cut the feeding down even more?
Well, now the moral of the story is Fuffers needs to return to the vet in about two months for his annual check up. So, I bought a scale to find out if he is just as fat as last year. . . AND HE IS FATTER. He is 19.2 lbs! That is getting to the point where he is almost 25% overweight! Well, he is kind of a cat nip fiend. He gets vicious and crazy when it is around. It is pretty scary––especially for Mama Kitty. But desperate times call for desperate measures, as the saying goes. So I bought a cat nip mouse and made him chase it. . . which he would only do for about 3 minutes. . . But we are gonna try this out! I will keep you updated.
IT IS SOOOOO COLD.
You think the only people who would want to be outside
are like polar bears and the penguin friends,
but I am out here too.
And I'm SOOOOOO COLD!
Yes, it's SOOOOOO cold!
You think the only people who would play around outside
are like Santa Clause and his merry elves,
yet I am outside too.
And I'm SOOOOOO COLD!
Yes, it's SOOOOOO cold!
I forget the third verse. I made that song up on the way to school one day last semester. If I ever meet you in person I will sing it for you. It just seems so apt today to share the song with you because it is 15 degrees Fahrenheit, and with the windchill it is -1 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I was outside. . . and yes, it is SOOOOOOO COLD!
So, GALACTICA TONIGHT!! WOO -HOO!! I will tell you soon all about it!

Calla's Fourteenth Post

There Are Bats In The Lobby!!!!
Seriously. . . Because our superintendent is crazy nuts and he decorates for every holiday the lobby has batfriends!!! They are fake. (Which is good because it is mean to keep bats indoors) but one is a skeleton bat and one is not. The one that is not is furry!! And I pet it when I walked by. It is hanging from the ceiling and I smiled up at it and said "Bat Friend!" :) and then I reached up and pet it even though it is only pretend. It is also giant. Real bats are not big, but this bat was big. It is cute like a furry friend even though it is supposed to be scary. I do not think bats are scary though. I think they are cute cute adorable lovefaces!! OH I LOVE THE BATS.
Some people are mean to bats. This makes me so so sad. LUCKILY, there is an organization called Bat Sanctuary that helps save the bat friends. Go to batworld.org and read the stories at "adopt a bat." They are so so sad but then it makes you so so happy when you read that the bats are ok now. . . Except they also have a "in memory" page where people were so mean to bats that they could not even be saved!!! :( :( :( oh it is so so sad. Bats are so cute and furry and they fly all around! I love them.
I am weird though people say because people say bats are rats and they say rats are gross. Why are rats gross though? I think everything deserves respect, if not love. I understand if a rat is in your house that you might be scared it will spread diseases and you will want to kill her/him. . . but I wouldn't want to kill him/her. I would want to set a humane trap. And also, bats are not known for diseases. . . They are only known for being sweet and nice. DO NOT KILL BATS. They are gentle and sweet and I wish I could have one, but I can't because it's not nice to them to put them in cages. They will have to cling to the wires of the cages and it will cut their feet and hurt their feet so so much! Also, bats like to live with a whole lot of other bats. . . So I would need to own like twenty and I would need to have a GIANT bat cage (bigger than the ones at the Bronx Zoo that make me sad because the bats have hardly any room at all!) that looks like a bat natural habitat instead of a cage and I would need to know how to take care of them well. That is why Bat Sanctuary is so nice. That is what it's like. It's like a giant place for them to live with each other and be happy. I like bats. I especially like big brown bats. They are cute and furry!!
