Calla's Forty-Fourth Post

I crieded again! When they hit Helo in the head and threatened to rape Athena. . . I cried. I was ascared that Helo was going to die! Like Gandhi once pointed out, Indians wanting the English out of India for no other reason than that they were English is no reason for a revolution. That's just racism. (There were other reasons to want the English out of India. Not that they were white though.) So, anyway, that's what Gaeta is like. blah blah blah cylons blah blah. They have not given one logical reason why the alliance with the cylons is a bad idea. Look, Saul Tigh (what with his being the Ex O), Athena (what with her RESCUING ALL OF HUMANITY from New Caprica), Chief (ya know, fixing all their broken shit for four years), Anders (leading the resistance on Old Caprica) ALL SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS FIGHTING WITH HUMANS AGAINST OTHER CYLONS. This is not a cylon/human issue. . . Clearly, considering it is the humans that is killing the other humans right now, and not cylons killing them. Now, I understand the urge to be racist when to civilizations have been at war for ages. It's like the Israel and Palestine, right? Would we really expect them to all just get along if their governments suddenly decided to form an alliance with each other? I get that all the civilians, the people lower in command, those who do not realize cylons have been fighting with them as well as against them through the entire war. . . I get it. HOWEVER, it is not hard to understand that if one cylon (ie: Athena or Caprica) chooses to fight with humanity over cylonity (hahaha!) a group of "rebels" can't decide the same. People just need to use logic. But they don't. Even all these nutty fans were on Gaeta's side and thought it was stupid that all the most major characters where on the cylon side. . . Well, let's go through this systematically.

Admiral Adama: best friend = cylon. Has not been racist since before New Caprica when he began trusting Athena fully.

President Roslyn: Kind of has lost faith in everything anyway so why not take a chance on the cylons? Trusts Saul, Athena, and Chief. . . so it is not a stretch for her to trust others. Additionally, she is so devoted to order and the proper system of the government, that she WOULD NEVER go with the mutineers. Actually, all you have to do is consider that she is in love with Adama and the point is made. Why would she ever try to kill him?

Saul: He is a cylon.

Starbuck: Married to a cylon. Athena saved her ass back on Old Caprica. She has actually never shown real signs of racism. Prayed for the Leoben she tortured when he got flushed at the airlock - clearly never racist. Even started trusting her earth Leoben. (too bad he abandoned her at her most vulnerable moment, huh?) WOULD NEVER TURN HER BACK ON THE UNIFORM

Lee Adama: Obsessed with his daddy. Always been a little racist, but like those people who tell racist jokes. . . No, not even like those people. . . Like those people who will change seats on the subway if someone of another race sits next to them. He's been like that kind of racist. Not like a KKK member, which is what all these other psychos are acting like. So no, there is no way he would be on Gaeta's side.

Baltar: Has been in love with Caprica. Has potentially been in love with Tory. Has always understood that humans and cylons are essentially the same.

Caprica: She's a cylon.

Athena: She's a cylon

Chief: He's a cylon.

Helo: He is married to a cylon. He went through hoops to ensure there was not a genocide of the cylons LONG BEFORE there was any inkling that cylons and humans would ever live in harmony.

Anders: He's a cylon

Gaeta: He is on his own side. . . and I think I just went through the list of characters from most main downward. (In my opinion.) Now, all this is left to be on Gaeta's side is more minor characters than him. . . But guess what. IT WORKS CAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF THEM. . . and they actually seem to have some motivation (at least some of them) for being on Gaeta's side.

Selix is pissed cause she had a crush on Anders.

Connor is pissed that Baltar let his son die, and he associates Baltar's administration with the cylons taking over.

Racetrack was always racist against Athena. And we might have thought she was racist in the same way Lee is. . . But since her character is more minor, not as developed, the writers can get away with putting her on the other side without anyone questioning it.

Zarek: He's like power hungry and just wants to start a revolution cause he's pissed the Admiral never listens to him.

Aaron Kelley: Holding a grudge against Adama for not letting him murder Romo Lampkin and thus ruin Baltar's trial.

Think about this. . . If any of the major major characters had been on Gaeta's side it wouldn't've made sense. Think about how it woulda worked. . . and you won't be able to. . . because it wouldn't've.

So that's just my little vent about all these fans who, apparently, have been watching a different show than I have. They seem to have missed the whole "what divides humans from cylons? Is there really a difference at all?" motif that has been running through the show since the mini-series. They act like these minor characters who have not witnessed the loyalty of so many of the cylon race. It's kinda really quite strange.

Alright. So, back to me thinking Helo was gonna die. . . I couldn't really think that because in an interview he said that they had this stupid way for his character to go and he fought it or something like that. So, clearly he doesn't die of head trauma. BUT, he still might die next episode. (It was "to be continued.")

Who else might die? Well, the preview said Saul DOES die. . . so I'm thinking, why not Anders? And probably a billion other people on Gaeta's side. And probably Gaeta. AHHHHH!! It's gonna be intense and a half!

So, turns out I mighta been wrong about Caprica carrying Ellen and all. If Saul is dead too (which he is) maybe they might come back together. Wow, that'll be sad for Caprica. . . maybe she'll get back together with Baltar. Speaking of the Caprica Baltar relationship . . . Did you see the way Caprica looked at Hera in the brig!? She's gonna kidnap that baby and raise it with Baltar. Head Six said that was their child.

Oh, also, HOW BAD ASS IS STARBUCK? I'm in love with her. She's amazing. And how great was it when Roslyn told Baltar they were both frauds. . . 'cause they are. These crazy religious leaders that promise stuff and can't deliver and stop believing in themselves even. Those two have the most interesting relationship. It's brilliant. Ever since Roslyn didn't kill Baltar it's been so interesting to watch.

Galactica makes me sad. I'm going to watch it again in ten minutes though. I'm sure there'll be a part 2 to this note.

Calla's Thirty-Eighth Post

I promise I will get off of this Galactica kick soon. (until next Friday, anyway) But, I just wanted to say that I made a funny connection about my original final cylon list. (Calla's First Post) Ellen was on the "I will write angry letters" list (on a scale of 1 -5 one being the best five being the worse, this was number 4), but Caprica and Tigh's love child is on the "Doesn't Suck" list (#2). But, now I am under the impression that Caprica is carrying Ellen. . . So I guess that averages to number 3. Which is right in the middle of great and awful. That means it "only sucks a little." Not so bad, not so bad.

Here is a link to an interview that is well worth the read. http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/01/final-fifth-cylon-ellen-tigh-battlestar-galactica-dualla-dee-.html

Firstly, it makes clear that "the blaze" happened the same time earth was nuked. So clearly, this was the same war. I'm not sure if the centurions rebelled or the humans found the cylons before settling on the twelve colonies or what. But both of these nuclear explosions were from the same war. . So why has Kobol reginerated itself so fully and earth is still a wasteland? The blaze may not actually be a nuclear holocaust, but massive fires or something. That would be the simplist explanation. However, there might be a supernatural answer instead.

Secondly, the interview sparked my thinking more deeply about Cavil's connection with the final five. Clearly this model, or at least some of the individuals in that model, knows who they are. He has been messing with them this whole time! Brother Cavil talked to chief trying to convince him he wasn't a cylon. On New Caprica, he slept with Ellen and tore out Saul's eye (potentially. I don't remember for sure if he mentions who did it, but Cavil is the one who talks about changing his calendar markings and is the one who lets him out finally. He probably was the one torturing Saul.) On Caprica, Cavil was in the resistance of which Anders was the leader. The only missing piece is Tory. Tory seems so random though! I mean, she was a part of the New Caprica resistance. She was actually in charge of getting Hera safely off the planet (which she failed to do.) But she hasn't been a major character. I think they needed a hot young woman to sleep with Baltar who was also high up in the Presidential administration in order to complicate things there. . . which Tory fits. But I wish she had some connection to Cavil. It would just make it so much more perfect! I hope it'll turn out that way in The Plan.

The stuff about D. is depressing.

Finally, what I learned from this interview is super exciting! Read Chief's original flashback before they had to cut it all for the budget's sake. . . BOOMER. Boomer will come back. I am sure of it. And I am sure they will be together, at least briefly. It makes me so excited.

On a related note, the Caprica series is shaping up to be super confusing. What I have gathered from reading the beginning of the pilot script and watching one scene which has been filmed and edited is that basically everyone has the capacity to act as humanoid cylons. They have virtual reality clubs. You conciousness is downloaded into a virtual copy of your body and you can do whatever. Meanwhile, you body is sitting there vacant, like the bodies of the cylon models. When you die, you consciousness is re-instated into your physical body. Sound a wee bit like resurection to anyone else? Additionally, you are able to make copies of your body and consciousness in the virtual reality world. They then become independent entities. . . which freaks the hell out of me, because what happens to them when they die! AHHH. Scary as hell. It's like virtual reality cylons in that people think they are not humans, yet they have the same consciousness and abilites as humans. But basically, it brings more of the what makes a person a person theme that galactica started. EVERYTHING'S INSANE.

UM, finally I would just like to tell you that the one day when Tabby did the frogface thing, it made me laugh like the ghostband does! I kid you not. It was unexpected and thus hilarious!! But, for some reason I didn't write that the day I wrote about it. I dunno why.

Love,
Calla and her kitties who are asking for food!!

I guess we shoulda bought TWO beds!

Calla's Thirty-Seventh Post pt. 4

P.P.P.S.
I didn't notice the first time around, but Saul's flashback happens chronologically at the beginning of the episode even though the editors show it at the end, I do believe. Does he tell anyone? Is he now waiting for Ellen to return?

Calla's Thirty-Seventh Post pt. 3

P.P.S.

So, for real now, why does Ellen need redemption? I need to watch Razor again.

Calla's Thirty-Seventh Post

Anastasia Dualla is dead. She is dead. She is dead, and I cried. I expected to cry every episode until the end of the series. . . but I did not know this would be because D died. It was fairly traumatic. She shot herself in the head. After she was all smiley and happy and "want[ing] to hold onto this feeling as long as [she could.]" So, she killed herself because probably she thought she would never be happy again after that moment. Because everything in Galactica is Frakked up. I didn't cry at first, or through the commercial break. . . I think that was my shock and denial stage. But then after the commercial when the Adamas were with her corpse and they were all sad I felt like I was with her corpse too and I got all sad. And then Admiral Adama went all "I failed you" on the corpse. . . and Edward James Olmos is just too good of an actor to pull that shit! It just makes you want to die too! You can't just watch Adama be all broken and not cry a lot. But I was already crying before he said that, so it just got worse.

Moving on: Starbuck found her dead body. (Told you she was dead.) But it was oh-so much more depressing than that. Leoben ran away from her. Abandoned her. Said he was wrong about everything. And this is AFTER she admitted to him that she is the harbinger of death, leading humanity (person and cylon alike probably) to its end. So, she confided this to the crazy model that IMPRISONED her on New Caprica, appeared to her prior to his death (well, really an angel of god(s) appeared as Leoben), found her in the middle of multiple galaxies, etc. And she learned to trust him, and yet he ABANDONS HER at her most vulnerable moment!

So, we knew that she was dead and she would find her body, but we did not know how isolated, alienated, and estranged she would be.

Next on the list, earth is the cylon home world. We knew that already. (But really it's not because Kobol is the people and cylon "home world.") BUT there are centurion versions and humanoid versions. So the question remains: which was the thirteenth tribe? I would imagine the humanoid cylons were the ones leaving Kobol. Earth was devastated in a nuclear holocaust. (All this has happened before and all this will happen again.) It seems more plausible that the humanoid cylons created centurions who rebelled and created a holocaust than that the centurions created humanoid cylons. . . right? Additionally, a LONG LONG time ago, like between season 3 and 4.0 we heard that RDM was creating a story line of the centurions rebelling against the humanoid models. I eventually resigned myself to believing that was when the 2s, 6s, and 8s removed the inhibitors from the centurions who proceeded to blast away the 1s 4s and 5s. But now I think that that is what happened on Earth, so we will hear more about it. Or, the other 12 tribes killed them. Who knows?

So here's what happened. Kobol existed and the humans either created cylons, or they were created by gods. I don't really know. The cylons began to worship one jealous god and the humans worshipped the rest and they all had a big fit about it. So then there was "the blaze," and the 13th tribe (cylons) were able to leave semi-peacefully or maybe they were chased away by the other 12 and establish themselves on earth. Or maybe the blaze happened after the 13th tribe left because they left before the other 12. . . but maybe they were chased away and then came back to nuke them. (Also, isn't it strange that they are called 13th instead of 1st?)

I am unclear about why 5 of them are being reincarnated and not the rest. Probably that will clear itself up at some point in time. But, it remains the final 5 have been reincarnating since at least they first went to the algae planet. (Temple of the five bit, ya know?)

So, the other crazy part is this: Adama lied to the fleet. He said the 13th tribe was in the same situation they were: ordinary men and women looking for a home in the middle of the universe. Well, he knew they were actually cylons because Baltar already told him such, and also, the cylons maybe were hiding from the other 12 colonies. (Which I guess would make them more similar since they are still hiding/running from Cavil.) So, the point is this: the secrets are still not over. They just keep secrets from the fleet all the time like it's a fun game or something.

OK, so these 5 are constantly being reincarnated. (I'm not saying resurrecting because they are probably all reborn since they age and such.) So, they all remember their lives in NYC. (Modern day NYC, which means Galactica takes place 2000 years from now according to Baltar's dating of the nuclear wasteland known as Brooklyn.) AND Chief was drawn to the place right where he died, Tory and Anders were apparently in love, and (the last scene of the episode) Saul and Ellen were obviously in love. (Yes, it was Ellen.) Now, the flashback Saul has to 2000 years ago is of Ellen dying, but telling him it is all in place so that she will be reborn and they will be together again. So, Ellen knew it was in place for them to resurrect/reincarnate/be reborn/whatever, but I don't get why she knew this but not everyone does it? OR do they? How did they get back to the other 12 colonies and come to believe they were human? NUTTY. Even MORE nutty. . . Caprica is pregnant with Ellen or something. That is my bet. She has to be reborn somehow. Seems like a good way to get back.

Also, Chief doesn't have this eternal love interest thing. (Remember, when Starbuck was dead, Anders and Tory were frakking and what not.) SO, Boomer? I hope so. I always felt so sad for him that they couldn't be together and then Helo gets Athena. :(

OK, so D is dead. . . and for all intents and purposes so is D'Anna. She just left herself on earth to die. . . to get off this merry-go-round of all happening before and all happening again. Which is kind of disgusting when you consider she will probably die of dehydration or radiation poisoning. But in the first of these eleven hours left, they killed off two supporting characters. There is not much time 'til they are all gone! I do not doubt it.

BTW, they tricked us with D. They said she had an important role to play in the second half of the season. . . and then she goes and dies. Well, that was important as a representation of the mental state of the people and showing us Adama's breaking points. . . it was trickery at it's fullest.

It starts again in a minute. I will watch it again for further evidence. Bye.

Also, I would be willing to guess this is completely incoherent

And I also cannot believe D's death did not leak so I could've been somewhat prepared for it! (Also, there're like no women left in the CIC.)

Love,
CRAZY PEOPLE WHO ARE SAD.

Calla's Thirty-Sixth Post

Alright, well this sucks. Looks from my snooping around the internet desperately seeking information about the Final Cylon that it is Ellen Tigh. This is what finally convinced me there is no other possibility

"7) Her appearance in the fleet was quite suspicious, and we know from leaked info from "The Plan" that Cavil helped Ellen get off Caprica

I'm not saying Cavil knew Ellen was one of the final five, but it does seem interesting that they would go back and visit Ellen's escape from the attack, unless it was an important thing" (http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2320602)

The Plan is a made-for-TV movie that will come out after Battlestar Galactica ends. It is about the cylons and their whole nuking the 12 colonies thing. (I'm personally pretty stoked for it.) Nonetheless, if this is true, and I see no reason to believe otherwise, it makes sense that Ellen is the final cylon. All 12 cylons are supposed to be in The Plan (except maybe D'Anna for some reason or another. DUMB), and it's just too ironic that Cavil helps her escape. (Especially because he's so determined never to think about the final five!)

Well, I still haven't given up hope that it's NOT Ellen. Maybe they "leaked" this info. to appease us all so we wouldn't search far enough to find out who the REAL final cylon is. Maybe Ellen is really important to explain some of the other mumbo-jumbo that is going on in the Galactica Universe. ('cause there certainly is a lot of mumbo-jumbo.) She is going to be in a strip club in The Plan supposedly. Additionally, supposedly there are like flash-back typa things with Ellen and a Six in a strip club sometime during 4.5. I HOPE this has some significance other than Ellen being the final cylon and that this is why there is such a big deal made about her.

However, this seems doubtful. All the spoiler sites have her as one of the options. . . and I am upset. I will know for sure on Friday whether I must start the angry letter writing campaign. But MAN what a missed opportunity having it NOT be Kendra Shaw. (I have resolved myself by now that it is not, unless the chick goes uncredited in everything Galactica related besides Razor.) The disappointing part of this is the whole "crawling towards the light seeking redemption bit" the hybrid in Razor said. (He's gonna be a main character in Caprica!! Not the hybrid, the man he once was! PSYCHED!) I don't remember if this seeking redemption thing was in a deleted scene or not though. . . ANYway, it also woulda been great to introduce her in the movie, have everyone think she was gone, and then bring her back. Additionally, she is not in the fleet, nor is she in the last supper picture. It just seems like such a good opportunity! They got us so attached to her, and for what? (Nothing.) PLUS: SHE'S HOT!!! (hehe.)

So, Ellen, that's just TOO MUCH irony. It was already ironic that Saul killed his wife (or appears to have killed her; who knows at this point?) for collaborating with the cylons, and then turned out himself to be a cylon. We don't need his wife to have turned out to be a cylon as well!! STUPID. Also, from what does SHE need redemption? Sleeping around too much? No, DUMB. I dunno man. I'm just sad. This is just sad. They better do the head Caprica/ head Baltar bit amazingly well or I will cry.

Everyone says there's no way to do the final cylon well 'cause it's just been built up too much. . . UH YEAH THERE IS: Kendra. Alas, it shall never come to pass.

That is all for now. :( I will let you know for most certain on Friday. I will let you know if they manage to pull it off spectacularly somehow with it being Ellen.

Calla's Thirty-Fifth Post

This is just to reiterate the point that Kara Thrace is Aurora, one of the 12 Lords of Kobol. After all, Athena says when they are first on Kobol that the cylons know more about the human gods than the humans themselves do. Leoben clearly knows a lot about Starbuck, no doubt. And when Starbuck first came back from the dead (which she most certainly did. You just wait and see.) Adama was playing with that figurine of Aurora again. Symbolism? I think so probably yes. And then at the beginning of the mid-season finale Lee is looking at a temple of Aurora from earth. (or what legend has it the temple looks like on earth. Probably we'll never know since earth is a nuclear wasteland.) What we will know is that Starbuck is Aurora. I just wanted to reiterate all of this before the final ten episodes start this Friday!! (AHHH! Who's EXCITED!?) Just so you would remember I am right.

As for Kendra Shaw, unless they paid a lot of people off, it doesn't look like she will be the final cylon. The actress isn't in any of the credits. Which looks like a bad sign considering she was the only intelligent choice. I will probably be mad at whatever happens.

I am so so excited that this post is like a re-run. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT? I'm gone for months and I come back with RE-RUNS!? hehehehe. I am just so so so excited it is hard to contain my excitement and I must just write about all this exciting galactica business.

My cat is a bobble head. Did I tell you? I am afraid he is sick because, a few times now, starting a couple nights ago, he did this thing where his head looked like a bobble head- like it wasn't really attached to his neck and it just bobbled. It is strange. It only happens for a couple seconds and it does not seem to bother him. I hope he is not dying. He is kind of old. The other kitty must go to the vet tomorrow to get shots. She has not been to the vet in a year and 2 and a half months. That means she is 2 and a half months late on shots. But I am not worried because she only stays inside. What does make me worried a little is that she will be so sad!! She just went to the vet like 2 weeks ago or something and the vet said she had a cold so she couldn't get her shots. So now she has to go back already and she will be so so so so so so sad. Also, we will ask the vet about the bobble, and see if he needs to go in. He has not been in to the vet in 10 months.

Did you know there's a ban on HIV positive people entering the U.S.? It's probably for their own benefit; we might start testing drugs on them against their will if they come here.

Love,
Calla And Her Kitties.

GUEST CAT II This is the little Roxanne in her safe place. She lives with Christina. If my memory serves correct, she was named after Roxy Hart from the musical Chicago and because Christina's favorite part in the movie Moulin Rouge is the scene with the song El Tango De Roxanne.

Calla's First Post

Tabby made me make this blog. . . Actually he made it for me, to be exact. It's because he thinks I am funny or something because I babble a lot. . . about many different things. Sometimes I talk about Battlestar Galactica. . . but lots of times I bitch about social change. I made a list about the final cylon. Would you like to see it? This is just what I said:

Good: Kendra Shaw

Doesn't Suck: Zarek, Romo Lampkins, Musician, Romo Lampkin's kitty, Six and Tigh's love child, Head Baltar, good informer doggy friend

only sucks a little: Doc Coddle

I will write angry letters: Starbuck, Baltar, Zac/Appollo/Admiral/D. Adama, Geida, Heilo, Roslyn, labor dispute guy, Boxy, Ellen, Kat, Racetrack, Hot Dog, etc., Billy, Priestess, any small characters such as people in the quarom of the 12, Cain and all those people from the Pegasus except the only good one., Kara's father

Most awful possible: Calli, Bulldog, Head Six

Impossible; Hera, Nicky- because, you see, they are already half cylon and we know that. A Centoriun- beause s/he is already a cylon. The Battlestar Galactica

That is what I said. . . lots is probably spelled wrong, because
I never planned on putting it as a post and such. Also, Kara's father might be the musician. . so what list is THAT on? The good informer doggy friend is named Jack, I think, but I forgot that when I wrote the list. Also, the only reason Battlestar Galctica itself is on the list is because a stupid person said that on someone else's blog or something. And additionally, I know centurions are its, not hes or shes. . . but in context of the show, and the derogatory way people like Cain say "it" in reference to human model cylons, I don't feel comfortable using such terminology. I can't spell stuff..

Love,
Calla (and my kitty cats)
